Business Migrant (Start-Up) Visa

  • This is aimed at less experienced business people without specified investment funds - It allows two years in the Isle of Man to prove a new business concept.
  • The business must be endorsed by the Department of Enterprise.
  • An applicant can stay on the Isle of Man for 2 years, 4 months - the visa cannot be extended.
  • This route does not give direct access to Indefinite Leave to Remain - but it is possible to switch to the Business Migrant (Innovator) visa for a further three years.

    • Business Migrant (Innovator) Visa

  • You must have at least £50,000 in investment funds if you want to set up a new business.
  • Special accelerated route to ILR after 3 years.
  • Applicants must be resident in the IOM for income tax purposes.
  • Detailed business plan required.
  • 3 full time roles must be created on the Isle of Man within specified time scale.
  • English language requirement (level B2 CEFR).
  • You must be endorsed by the Department for Enterprise and hold a Letter of Endorsement which is needed to support a visa application.

    • Worker Migrant Visa

  • Applicants must have a valid Confirmation of Employment.
  • Entry clearance must be granted before a person arrives on the Isle of Man.
  • The salary must be a minimum of £20,800.
  • Applicants must be able to maintain and accommodate themselves and any dependants adequately, without needing public funds.
  • The applicant cannot be self-employed.

    • British National (Overseas) Visa

  • The visa will enable those with BN(O) status and their dependent family to live in the Isle and Man and UK for up to five years.
  • Applicants must demonstrate they can accommodate and support themselves for at least six months.
  • After five years on the BN(O) visa an individual and their dependents can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain.
